Let’s face it – getting energy out of an active dog is tough for the average working person. We leave for work early and get home late -- thoroughly exhausted from the day. Getting the energy to take our dog/s for a walk is a struggle; heck, getting the energy to do anything is a struggle. But if you have an active dog it is absolutely crucial that it has an opportunity to release energy. If not it will become anxious and destructive. Plus being trapped in a house or backyard all day is not fair to your dog. Many of you have probably seen Caesar Milan and know how important it is to walk your dog; the problem with simply walking them is that the owner often tires out before the dog does – especially if it an active breed.
Because I have a very active Lab/Pointer mix myself, I went in search of a solution to wear out my dog fast when I did not have time to take him to the off-leash park. I wanted something that would thoroughly exercise my dog while keeping me in shape as well. I began looking into options for biking my dog. I had tried to ride my bike while holding the leash, but this turned out in disaster – it just was not safe. That is when I came across the dog bike leash. Dog bike leashes are a relatively new concept in the United States, but they are catching on incredibly fast. You really have to see how one of these things works to fully appreciate it. A dog bike leash is something that securely attaches to your bike, allowing you to bike with your dog while maintaining both hands on the handle bars and having complete control. I can’t begin to tell you how much I love my dog bike leash. I am able to come home from work, hook up my dog Parker to the bike, and ride around the neighborhood a couple of times to release his energy from lounging around the day. I can get the energy out of him using the dog bike leash in a fraction of the time it takes if I were to try and walk him. It has become something that he absolutely loves doing. It is fun for me too; Parker gets so excited that I barely have to even peddle – Parker does all the work pulling both of us down the street. The dog bike leash was super easy to install and also detaches immediately when the lock is released. The dog bike leash can then double as a regular dog leash. I have several extra connectors on all of our bikes and can quickly switch between bikes in seconds. Check out the video.
